Turning Green

TURNING GREEN

or

EUROPE IS CALLING ME BACK

After my long fascination with the sandy shades of brown and orange, the green hues of European landscapes open up new perspectives for me.

Tamsweg Cultural Centre, Saal 1: Project “Aufbruch” (“Departure”), photos and poems, musical accompaniment by Eva and Flora Schrempf, 2013

After a decade in Egypt and another one back in Austria it is time to set off again, but this time mentally with the help of European landscapes taken over the years in France, Germany and Austria; the mental journey being accompanied by texts and poems serving as a stimulus for further exploration.

Tamsweg, dentist’s office Dr. Peter Rosian: “Natur-nah” (“Close to nature”), photos, 2015

Close to nature means, on the one hand, that I am close to nature with my camera, mostly using the Macro lens in order to capture details. On the other hand, the title is an expression of my inner attitude towards nature, as I deeply enjoy its magical properties, like the power of trees or the fascinating shapes and colours of unspoilt landscapes. The photos also invite the viewers to feel inspired and allow their own experiences to resonate.

Vaste comme la nuit et comme la clarté, les parfums, les couleurs et les sons se répondent.

Vast as the dark of night and as the light of day, perfumes, sounds, and colours correspond

Les Fleurs du Mal, Charles Baudelaire (1821-1867)

The synergies created by the combination of my different creative activities enter into my new projects bringing more and more into focus the analogies between photos, paintings and texts.

Tamsweg, Rathaus (Town Hall): “Begegnungen mit…” (“Encountering…”), photos, Mandalas and abstract paintings, (exhibition and drumming performance), 2016

This extensive overview of my art work allows for encounters, resonances and analogies on all possible levels. The focus on details, for example, turns natural landscapes into abstract paintings, which in turn correspond to my intuitive paintings of inner landscapes.

Murau, Stadtbücherei (town library): “Through the looking-glass”, exhibition and public reading, 2016

As pictures and texts seem to inspire each other more and more often, in this public reading the photos also play an important role, both media illustrating my attitude towards life as well as my approach to art.
